'Soon': Romano claims Forest will follow Awoniyi signing with 'incredible' second arrival
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Nottingham Forest will “soon” announce Dean Henderson’s arrival on loan.
This will follow the signing of Taiwo Awoniyi, which the Reds announced just before 9am on Saturday.
On Friday, Romano confirmed that Forest had got both deals over the line.
The transfer guru reported on Awoniyi’s acquisition just before midday.
Around two hours later, Romano said Henderson to Forest on loan was also a done deal.
And in the early hours of Saturday morning, he said an announcement was due “in the next hours” for Awoniyi.
Meanwhile, Forest would announce Henderson as their new loan signing “soon”.
Romano’s comments suggested that Awoniyi’s announcement would come before that of Henderson.
This proved to be the case, with Forest only announcing the striker’s arrival at the City Ground so far.
Dean Henderson factfile
Henderson came through the ranks at Manchester United and remains on their books.
However, he has played second fiddle to David de Gea at Old Trafford over the last two seasons.
Henderson only made three appearances in 2021-22, which came in the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
However, the 25-year-old one-cap England international is proven at Premier League level.
He has made 49 top-flight appearances – 13 for Manchester United and 36 on loan at Sheffield United.
While at Bramall Lane, Henderson kept 13 sheets as the Blades finished ninth in 2019-20.
His efforts led to former teammate Sander Berge deeming him “awesome” and “insane”.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho lauded Henderson’s “incredible” development at Old Trafford.
The former Manchester United boss tipped him to become “phenomenal“.
