Son Heung-min has told Tottenham Hotspur’s media team that Lucas Moura changed the game after his introduction during their emphatic win over Norwich on the final day of the Premier League season.
Spurs booked their spot in next year’s Champions League on Sunday. Antonio Conte’s men looked to be overwhelming favourites, with only a draw required at bottom side Norwich.

But any worries about dealing with the pressure were alleviated quickly. Tottenham were 2-0 up after 32 minutes at Carrow Road. And a third goal came shortly after the hour-mark.
Then the focus all changed for Spurs. Heading into the final day, Son was one goal behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot. The South Korean had scored 10 goals in his previous nine games to almost catch up.

Two minutes before Son’s first goal, Conte brought on Lucas Moura. The Brazilian then set up the forward with a gorgeous touch around the corner that bamboozled the defender.
And Son added another shortly after to ensure that he shared the award with Salah. After the game, it was Lucas who Son was keen to pay tribute to.
“The first goal was underrated from Lucas Moura. That’s a difficult touch, especially with the weak foot, and he made a really great chance before,” he told Tottenham’s media team.
“I’m really grateful for Lucas that if I didn’t score this goal I could have scored the second goal. Lucas came on and changed the game, he gave us fresh legs, and Lucas told me that he was going to help me when he came on so I’m really, really grateful.”
Lucas Moura changed the game
It has been a difficult few months for Lucas. He has not been a regular starter since Dejan Kulusevski arrived. And reports have suggested that he could yet be sold this summer.
But that moment of magic for Son’s goal shows that he still has a lot to offer. Tottenham’s squad is set to be stretched again next year with Champions League football back on the agenda.
So perhaps Lucas will indeed have a place in Conte’s plans next season. Certainly, Son will be delighted if he sticks around beyond the summer.
