Son Heung-min responds when asked what changes Antonio Conte has made at Tottenham, during first days

Son Heung-min has told BT Sport – as per the BBC – that Antonio Conte has not done anything “special” since his arrival as Tottenham manager.

Son, 29, scored the first goal of Conte’s era as manager on Thursday night – after Lucas Moura had a shot saved. Spurs eventually ran out 3-2 winners.

It was far less comfortable than Conte would have liked, though. Going 3-0 up inside the first 30 minutes, Spurs fans were delighted with the impact.

But Spurs, are still Spurs. They conceded two goals before half-time, and then Cristian Romero was sent off soon after the break.

Perhaps unlike their past selves, they held on. Vitesse went down to 10 late on, before their goalkeeper was sent off for a handball out of the box.

Son was asked about Conte’s first couple of days in charge at Tottenham – and asked if the Italian had changed anything before Vitesse.

“Nothing special. He took only two sessions. It was hard for him. We did well especially in first 30. I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Son on Conte: Tottenham manager will have plenty to chew on

His 3-4-3 system was quickly imprinted on Tottenham’s side, combining Eric Dier, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies in defence.

But the defence was not good enough. Lucas Moura, Son and Harry Kane looked good in attack – but the defence was all over the place.

The midfield was hardly impressive. Conte will have lots to improve and work on if Spurs are to challenge for the top four. Top six, too.

But he will be encouraged by the front three, perhaps Davies on the left of a three and his wing-backs. Sergio Reguilon and Emerson Royal were strong.
