Son Heung-min has admitted to Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he does not feel that he should have won the October Premier League Player of the Month award – because Harry Kane deserved it more.
The two Spurs stars have made an outstanding start to the season. The pair have scored 15 goals and contributed 10 assists between them in the top flight.

Four of those goals and two of those assists came from Son in October. So it is difficult to argue with the decision to hand him the accolade for the month.
However, one person who is seemingly willing to question the decision is Son himself. The South Korean – who cost £22 million back in 2015 (via Daily Mirror) – expressed a belief that his teammate was more deserving.

“To win this award is a great feeling, a great achievement for me, but I’m really grateful to my team-mates, without them, I couldn’t win,” he told Tottenham’s official website.
“It was a great month, great results, so I’m very happy. For me, when I saw the list, I thought ‘H’ should win this easily! I never expected to win this award because Harry’s been fantastic all season, he completely deserves it!”
In fairness to Son, Kane managed the same number of goals, and provided just one more assist. But Jose Mourinho will be delighted that either could have easily won.
It is remarkable to think that nine of their 10 assists have resulted in the other man scoring. That is why so many seem to think that Spurs currently boast a forward line that is as good as anything in the world right now.
And if the pair pick up where they left off once the season resumes, there are likely to be several more awards, honours and maybe even silverware on its way in the coming months.
