Arsenal fans are hopeful that they may just have another signing in the pipeline after Martin Odegaard took the number eight shirt, rather than the number 11.
Odegaard – number eight
Odegaard was confirmed as an Arsenal player earlier today – but he will wear a new number from the one he was given last season.
Arsenal’s 11 shirt currently belongs to Lucas Torreira, but he is widely expected to depart imminently (Football London) – so taking that number shouldn’t have been a problem.
However, Odegaard was instead given the number eight strip.
And that has offered Arsenal fans encouragement that another attacker could join this summer.
Another signing?
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal still retain an interest in Houssem Aouar, even with Odegaard joining on the Don Robbie podcast.
Mikel Arteta’s side have also been linked with a host of strikers, as they look for a new man to lead the line.
Whether Arsenal will be able to pull off any more significant deals is likely to depend on how much money is raised, though.
Arsenal have invested fairly heavily this summer without bringing in too much through player sales, and clearing the decks will surely be Edu’s next objective.
