
Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club surprisingly announced that Dom McKay had resigned from his role as Chief Executive.
What’s the story?
Well, Celtic state that McKay has stepped down due to personal reasons.
Director of Legal and Football Affairs Michael Nicholson has been appointed to stand in for McKay as acting CEO.
As Sky Sports covered at the time, McKay began working as CEO at Celtic Park as recently as April 19th.
He worked alongside Peter Lawwell for a brief spell before he himself left his role as CEO.
McKay was responsible for hiring Ange Postecoglou, and helped oversee a successful transfer window in which 11 new faces arrived.
McKay’s rein saw Kyogo Furuhashi, Liam Scales, James McCarthy, Jota, Josip Juranovic, Joe Hart, Carl Starfelt, Liel Abada, Liam Shaw, Georgios Giakoumakis and Osaze Urhoghide arrive in Glasgow.
Now, the vacancy is back after a short period of McKay holding the reigns.
Celtic fans must respect Dom McKay decision

We understand that a few supporters weren’t happy with McKay’s work, as abuse was often seen aimed in his direction.
However, no matter how pleased these fans may be after McKay stepped down, it would be wise to put the champagne on ice for now.
‘Personal reasons’ is very vague, and could mean anything.

It’s unfair to speculate, although something serious could’ve happened in McKay’s personal life which means he’s now unable to work.
It’s a time to be respectful, and put any opinions regarding his decision on hold until the truth comes out.
