Fabrizio Romano has today shared some “good news for Tottenham fans” regarding Harry Kane.

Last summer, Kane’s future at Spurs seemed particularly uncertain.

The Tottenham talisman reportedly wanted to leave N17 and join Manchester City.

However, Daniel Levy resisted the Premier League champions’ attempts to sign the striker.

In the end, Kane stayed put at Tottenham, but struggled early on in the campaign.

The 28-year-old registered just one goal and one assist up until early December.

However, Kane has shown a big improvement in form from mid-December onwards.

He has four goals and one assist from his last six Premier League games, and three goals from two FA Cup appearances.

Kane is “super happy”

Now, Romano has revealed how the situation is “completely different” for Kane since last summer.

And Antonio Conte’s arrival at Tottenham played a huge part in the England captain’s change of stance.

“If we think what happened eight months ago with Harry Kane, who was desperate to leave and go to Manchester City this was his desire, his idea, his plan – but something changed,” Romano said on the Here We Go Podcast.

“What changed is the manager, Antonio Conte, because in the last interview Harry Kane (was) saying in public: ‘I’m super happy, Antonio’s been brilliant.’

“It’s about the mentality. what Harry Kane loves about Conte is how he’s changing the mentality of the dressing room.

“When you have a draw or are losing a game it’s the end of the world for Antonio. This is what Harry Kane wanted.

“Now of course, let me clarify also on the contract, because many Tottenham fans are asking what happens with the new contract for Harry Kane.

“From what I’m told, it’s not something to be discussed in February or in March. So it’s going to take time to see if Kane will sign a new deal with Tottenham, when, how long it’ll be.

“So it’s going to take time. But we can say the situation is completely different from eight months ago, so good news for Tottenham fans.”

You can’t really blame Kane for seemingly wanting to leave Spurs in the summer.

Tottenham looked like they were regressing following their impressive run to the Champions League final in 2019.

They didn’t look like a club capable of delivering silverware in the near future.

And Nuno Espirito Santo’s appointment wasn’t the most confidence-inspiring, it has to be said.

But credit to Daniel Levy for quickly bringing in Conte, and Spurs now look like a club on the up again.

Not only does Kane look happy again, but Conte and Paratici have the pulling power to bring in top players.

It’ll be interesting to see how Tottenham fare between now and May, and then the summer window should be exciting.
