A number of Arsenal fans have given their thoughts on the report in The Telegraph claiming the Gunners have planned for the “doomsday scenario” of relegation from the Premier League.
The North Londoners are in dire straits at present, sitting just four points above the bottom three in a lowly 15th place in the top-flight table.
Arsenal have lost eight of their 14 league games so far, and haven’t won a league game since 1 November, when they ran out 1-0 winners at Manchester United.

Since then, the Gunners have lost to Aston Villa, Wolves, Spurs, Burnley and Everton, and drawn with Leeds and Southampton in the league.
According to The Telegraph, Arsenal have protected themselves against the financial impact of relegation by having inserted reduction clauses into a number of their players’ contracts.
Arsenal have not been relegated since the 1912-13 season when, as Woolwich Arsenal, they finished bottom of the old First Division.
Despite this, the Gunners have reportedly begun inserting clauses in the contracts of several players, supposedly a relatively new occurrence not common amongst Arsenal’s traditional rivals.
These Arsenal players would be obliged to take 25 per cent wage reductions if relegation were to happen, it is believed.
