Wolves have confirmed on their official website that they have completed the signing of striker Leonardo Campana from Barcelona SC.

The Ecuadorian, who has got four senior caps for his country, has signed for the Old Gold on a three-and-a-half-year deal and is currently representing his country in the pre-Olympic Championship.

Last season, which ran across 2019, he netted four goals in 21 games for Barcelona SC and upon his arrival said: “I am very glad to be here, and I am waiting and counting down the days to play at the stadium for the amazing fans that you have.

“I have been here for just one day, but I have been following the club for a while. I follow their social media, so I know the group and who all the players are.

“I know they get along really well, and the facilities are amazing, they are beautiful, and I can’t wait to start playing here.”

Plenty of Wolves fans were keen to welcome Campana to their club and were happy that Nuno Santo had been able to get a deal over the line to hopefully boost the squad.

Wolves’ ranks have been hit by injury and were already thin – so there was a growing feeling that reinforcements were needed.

It remains to be seen how much of an impact Campana can make – he is still a teenager – in the first team, but there is hope from the fans and Wolves’ transfer strategy has been largely good down the years.
