Some West Ham United fans have been reacting on social media after Oladapo Afolayan confirmed he had joined Bolton Wanderers on a permanent deal.
The forward has signed a three-year contract after helping Ian Evatt’s side clinch promotion into League One. He joined on an initial loan deal in January after making one senior West Ham appearance.
But Afolayan swiftly became a fans and managers’ favourite at the UniBol, with one goal and two assists in 21 appearances.

The 23-year-old opened his Wanderers account on the final day of the League Two season to help seal Bolton’s automatic promotion in a 4-1 win over Crawley Town. He also scored on his senior West Ham debut against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup this January.
Afolayan recently stated that he planned to discuss his future with David Moyes upon returning to West Ham. However, with his Hammers contract set to expire at the end of June, has agreed to join Bolton permanently.
Now, taking to Twitter, Afolayan has thanked the Irons for the opportunity to play for the Premier League side. The forward has also wished the Hammers good luck for their upcoming Europa League campaign.
“Want to say thank you to West Ham for giving me the opportunity in professional football,” he said. “Learnt a lot and made some lifelong friends at the club! I’ll always be supporting from a far! Won’t ever forget scoring on my debut! Wish you all the best in Europe next season. COYI.”
