Some West Ham United fans have been calling for David Moyes to offer Mipo Odubeko his first-team breakthrough after the club announced his nomination for April’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
The Irons prospect has been nominated for the honour after a prolific month saw Odubeko score five goals in four appearances, including a hat-trick over his former side Manchester United to overturn a two-goal deficit and seal a 3-2 win, as well as a brace against Everton.
His goals proved pivotal in helping West Ham to secure their PL2 Division 1 status, and contributed to a return of 14 strikes in 12 academy-level outings this term after overcoming a serious injury that ruled the 18-year-old out until the turn of the year.

It is the first time that Odubeko has been nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month award in his fledgling career, and marks the first time that an Irons player has been in contention this season (whufc.com).
Moyes afford the Republic of Ireland U21 international his senior Hammers debut from the bench in his side’s FA Cup third-round win over Stockport County and introduced Odubeko at Manchester United in the fifth-round before substituting the substitute, but is yet to feature in the Premier League despite 15 appearances among the backups.
Odubeko will rival Danny Cashman of Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunderland’s Josh Hawkes, Dilan Markanday of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal’s Daniel Oyegoke, Cole Palmer of Manchester City and Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville for the junior honour.
Here’s how these West Ham fans reacted to Odubeko’s nomination…
