It would, perhaps, be fair to say that Jordan Hugill has not had it easy since joining West Ham United.
David Moyes pushed for the striker’s transfer in January 2018. As reported by the Daily Mail, West Ham paid Preston North End £8 million for the player that month.
But despite having West Ham fans excited with his entertaining welcome video, the player has struggled in London.
Hugill played just three times under Moyes before the Scot was replaced by Manuel Pellegrini that summer. The Chilean was not a fan and swiftly sent him to Middlesbrough on loan for the 2018-19 season.
After a fairly uninspired season at the Riverside Stadium, West Ham are trying to flog Hugill this summer.
A deal to Wigan Athletic recently collapsed but, according to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Bristol City and QPR are both keen on the player.
Despite West Ham’s striker shortage, it seems Hugill will be leaving the club this summer. Indeed, he was not taken to Asia for West Ham’s pre-season preparations.
Instead, Hugill has been playing with the under-23s. In fact, he even found the back of the ent for West Ham this weekend. Hugill scored the third goal in a 3-1 win over Slovakian outfit FK Humenne.
The response of many West Ham fans to his performance suggests that Hugill would be welcomed a reprieve at the London Stadium.
