Some West Ham United fans have been reacting on social media to reported target Arnaut Danjuma scoring in Bournemouth’s Championship play-off first-leg win over Brentford.

The Dutch international struck the only goal of the game to hand the Cherries an aggregate lead heading into Saturday’s reverse fixture, as the Vitality Stadium natives strive to join Norwich and Watford in securing an immediate return to the Premier League.

Danjuma broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half with an effortless finish rolled into the far corner of David Raya’s net, to round off a swift counter-attacking move he started by pressuring Bees captain Pontus Jansson in Bournemouth territory.

Danjuma came close to doubling his tally for a 17th goal of the season in all competitions with a tantalizingly close free-kick in the closing stages, and offered the Cherries an outlet on the left-wing whenever they sought to adventure forward.

No other home player matched the 24-year-old for chances created with two or for successful dribbles with three (WhoScored), either, as Danjuma sought to add to his eight assists for the season – only Dominic Solanke (11) has more for the Cherries.

Danjuma’s performances raised a few eyebrows from the West Ham fanbase, with some sharing their thoughts after David Moyes’ side were linked with the two-cap forward by The Sun in March.

It was suggested the Hammers had begun monitoring Danjuma’s situation on the south coast given the livewire’s efforts in the Championship this season, but could face competition from Southampton with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side also weighing up a potential bid.
