Some West Ham fans have been reacting on social media to reports by Eurosport, claiming their side is weighing up a summer transfer for Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic.
The Irons are working on strengthening head coach David Moyes’ squad in the next window and have identified Matic as an option who could improve the holding midfield numbers.
Moyes currently only has three natural choices for the role in Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and veteran captain Mark Noble, while Manuel Lanzini has been utilised in a deeper position against Burnley and Everton recently.

Lanzini played well in his appearances in central midfield beside Soucek but was forced off just before half-time in the 1-0 defeat to Everton, having sustained an apparent hamstring injury (football.london) that Moyes will hope is not too serious.
West Ham appear to be thinking more long-term with Matic under consideration for a potential summer switch to the capital, although the Serbian is said to be after a contract worth in excess of £120,000-per-week to leave Old Trafford.
The Hammers are likely to struggle to present a deal in the same price range as Matic hopes, as wages are expected to be a problem for West Ham to agree with any potential target this off-season.
Matic could, therefore, have to take a pay cut in order to leave Manchester United, who awarded the 32-year-old a £120k-p/w (Spotrac) contract when signed from Chelsea for £40m (BBC) in 2017.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has only awarded Matic just 11 starts over his 18 Premier League appearances this season, alongside a further 16 outings in cup and European competitions.
Here’s how these West Ham fans reacted to their side’s interest in Matic, who will turn 33 in August…
