West Ham United lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, a result which will no doubt have them feeling aggrieved. The Hammers were the better team for large parts of the game, only to find Toby Alderweireld and Hugo Lloris both in inspired form.
One player who continued to improve his flourishing reputation was Issa Diop. This summer, the Hammers fought off plenty of competition to sign the Frenchman. The 21-year-old cost a fee reported to be in the region of £22 million by the BBC. At the time, it was a club record.
The former Toulouse defender is now showing why. After being eased into Premier League football he now looks more than capable of cutting it at this level.

He has formed an excellent relationship with fellow newbie Fabian Balbuena and the pair look a solid base for the rest of the Hammers.
Yesterday, he was up against one of the most prolific strikers in the league. Harry Kane, off the back of an excellent performance with England, cut a disappointed figure throughout the game due to Diop’s imposing performance.
The youngster had Kane’s number for the majority of the game and is certainly looking worth the £22m West Ham paid for him in the summer.
