Tottenham Hotspur are through to the next round of the Champions League following a brilliant display against Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Despite some rotation, Barca still had a strong team, but Spurs put in a fantastic performance to earn a 1-1 draw.
Plenty of the Tottenham players put in fine displays. However, on Twitter, one man being praised more than others was left-back Danny Rose.
The England international put in a brilliant performance for Spurs, one which they have not seen from the player in a number of years.
Thriving in the knowledge Ousmane Dembele was reluctant to track back, he stretched and pulled right-back Nelson Semedo all over the Barcelona back-line.
It was a performance that deserved praise from the Spurs fans after a difficult run of form and injury trouble from the defender.
Two years ago, Rose was looking like one of the best left-backs in the world. An apparent desire to leave Spurs and head back north came at the same time as a bad knee injury. It left Rose looking a shell of his former self.
Ben Davies has stepped up in his absence. However, on this sort of form Rose is simply the superior player.
That is certainly the opinion of many Tottenham fans, who will hope Rose an now maintain this standard going forward…
