Tottenham Hotspur have made the somewhat surprising decision to sack Mauricio Pochettino – and some Spurs fans urged their club to approach Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, before Wednesday’s announcement that Jose Mourinho had been hired.
Spurs confirmed on Tuesday evening that they have relieved Pochettino of his duties at the north London club, with the club sitting in a lowly 14th place in the Premier League having won just three of their 12 Premier League matches.
Despite their form, Spurs fans are angry to learn that Pochettino has been dismissed – given the growth of the club in the five and a half years at the helm. He has taken them to the Champions League final, and have become an established top-four club.

Pochettino’s relationship with Leeds boss Bielsa is widely renowned. Bielsa signed Pochettino as a youngster at Argentine side Newell’s Old Boys, and has described the Leeds boss as a “second father” in quotes published by the Daily Mail.
Bielsa is currently shining at Championship side Leeds, after the Argentine took Leeds to the play-off final last season and is reigniting another promotion campaign – with the Whites sitting in third place. He is contracted until the end of the season.
Before Mourinho was announced on Wednesday morning, some Spurs fans urged their club to go left-field and bring Leeds boss Bielsa to north London – in the short time between Pochettino’s sacking and Mourinho’s announcement.
