A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Jack Clarke for his goalscoring display today as Spurs Under-23s won their latest Premier League 2 encounter.

Wayne Burnett’s charges took on Southampton U23s at Hotspur Way and Clarke opened the scoring for Tottenham’s youngsters early in the second half, converting at the back post for his first Spurs goal.

Although Saints levelled through Josh Sims in the 68th minute, Dilan Markanday’s goal six minutes from time, sliding in at the back post following a quick counter, helped Spurs pick up all three points.

Here is what some Spurs supporters made of Clarke’s display in the 2-1 win:

Clarke joined Tottenham last summer from Leeds United in a £10million deal, being loaned back to the Elland Road side, but made only one Championship appearance – as a substitute – for the Whites in 2019-20.

The 19-year-old was recalled by Spurs and then spent the second half of the season on loan at Queens Park Rangers but once again struggled for game time, making just six appearances off the bench.

This term, Clarke is yet to feature for Tottenham’s senior team and, in September, was linked with another loan move away from Spurs, the Birmingham Mail reporting that Birmingham City were interested in his services.

However, Clarke’s agent Ian Harte rubbished the Birmingham speculation on Twitter on 24 September and, as things stand, the youngster remains at Hotspur Way.
