Some Tottenham fans react to Hugo Lloris' comments on Ndombele
Tottenham Hotspur skipper Hugo Lloris has had his say about his compatriot Tanguy Ndombele and his struggles since joining the club.
Signed by Mauricio Pochettino for a club-record £53.8 million in 2019 (BBC), Ndombele is yet to live up to his mammoth price tag. He is into his third season in the Premier League now, and it’s a mystery why he hasn’t yet fulfilled his massive potential.
Lloris, who arguably knows Ndombele better than anyone else in the squad, was asked about his compatriot’s problems. The Spurs skipper claimed that the 24-year-old needs more games under his belt and has urged him to take more responsibility every time he steps onto the pitch.
Lloris: Ndombele needs more games
The goalkeeper said, as per The Evening Standard: “Tanguy needs games, games, games, repetition of games. [He needs to] try to feel this responsibility because he’s not a young player anymore. And a player with his talent and quality must feel responsibility inside the changing room and the team.
“Honestly, I think he’s ready, his mind is ready. He’s here with a smile, he’s connected with the team and that’s the most important thing. Obviously, it’s the manager’s decision to play him or not play him, but I can feel his energy is back. And, for sure, he’s going to perform. I have no doubt about that.
“With Tanguy, the first season, because of the language, it was sometimes frustrating with him to not be able to talk with the others. Today, he’s totally open and he can talk and joke and share moments. That’s very important as a player, to feel connected to the team.”
Spurs fans are not too pleased
Lloris is saying the right things as a captain, but Tottenham fans aren’t too happy about his comments. Many feel that Ndombele has had plenty of time to prove himself already, and demanding more games to redeem himself makes no sense at all.
Like Lloris, every Spurs fan wants Ndombele to perform at the highest level for Tottenham. Sadly, many feel he’s just not capable of that in the current setup. Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter…
