Some Tottenham fans react as Pochettino and Leonardo’s relationship breaks down

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting online to a potential boost in their club’s pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino.

That’s according to French football expert Philippe Auclair, who told talkSPORT that the Argentine’s relationship with Leonardo is beyond repair.

It is expected that one of Pochettino or Sporting Director Leonardo will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The pair quickly developed a difficult relationship following the Argentine head coach’s arrival in January.

Pochettino is fighting with Leonardo over control of the club’s activities, such as what players are given contract extensions. The Brazilian also has a major say in transfers but it is PSG’s owners who dictate much of the decisions.

Leonardo does not have a great relationship with the Qatari owners, however. It would not have slipped their attention that Thomas Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea months after being fired.

Tuchel and Leonardo fell out drastically at Le Parc des Princes during the German’s time at the helm. He is now at loggerheads with Pochettino, so could face an uncertain future.

Doubt in Pochettino’s future will come as a boost for Tottenham, however. The Times report the Argentine is interested in returning to north London to replace Jose Mourinho.

The political in-fighting with PSG’s hierarchy is a major factor in Pochettino’s willingness to leave the French capital. The Ligue 1 side only appointed him in January on an 18-month contract.

Tottenham fans hope for Pochettino exit

Some Tottenham fans on social media are now hoping that PSG part with Pochettino over his split with Leonardo. The 49-year-old established the north London side as consistent top-four challengers and reached the Champions League final together in 2019.

Not all Spurs supporters share the same stance, though, as some would prefer Levy to appoint a new name. Pochettino had become frustrated at the slow manner in which Levy replaced unwanted players during his five-year tenure (Guardian).

So, here’s what these Tottenham fans had to say to Auclari’s claims regarding Pochettino on talkSPORT…
