Tottenham are being linked with attacker Demarai Gray from Premier League rivals Leicester City – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded by claiming they don’t want to see him signed.

Journalist Duncan Castles has reported that Spurs are interested in signing the 24-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

He’s detailed that Leicester believe his future will end up at Spurs, but it’s not yet at the stage and there is additional interest from elsewhere.

“I’m told that at Leicester they believe that he will be moving to Tottenham Hotspur,” Castles explained on the Transfer Window Podcast (24 minutes).

“My understanding is that there is an interest from Tottenham, but that is not a guaranteed deal, he has interest from other Premier League clubs, there is also significant interest from overseas.

“A decision will be made as to where the best opportunity to develop his career is going forward once he’s in a position to properly talk to the clubs.”

Despite being an exciting youngster when Leicester signed Gray from Birmingham City back in 2016, he’s failed to really establish himself as a top player at the King Power Stadium despite a few brilliant individual moments and scored just 13 goals in 168 appearances.

He’s a left-winger blessed with rapid pace and plenty of trickery, plus he can be deployed through the middle.

But he’s been frozen out of the first-team plans this season by manager Brendan Rodgers and his only senior appearance came back in September against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media don’t feel Gray is the type of signing they need, especially as they’re already stacked with quality options in the forward areas.

Heung-Min Son, Steven Bergwijn, Gareth Bale, Erik Lamlea and Lucas Moura are all senior options currently available to manager Jose Mourinho.

It looks like Gray needs to move away from Leicester to get a fresh start and aged 24 he’s got time to turn things around, but he would struggle for minutes if he moved to North London.
