A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to praise Josh Scowen’s impressive display today.

The Black Cats delivered a superb performance as they hammered Doncaster 4-1 at the Stadium of Light.

All of Sunderland’s goals came from Charlie Wyke, and Aiden McGeady supplied the assists for each of his teammate’s successful headers.

And at the other end of the pitch, Lee Burge – recalled to the side in place of Remi Matthews – conceded an unfortunate own goal, but also saved two penalties.

Despite the aforementioned trio’s impressive standout moments, it was a huge team effort where all the players ranged from good to superb.

Scowen delivered arguably his best performance in a Sunderland shirt, breaking up the play time and time again, and getting from box to box with ease.

The 27-year-old also came close to a one-on-one with the opposition keeper, but for a last-ditch tackle, and hit the bar with a cross in the second half.

Needless to say, quite a few Black Cats fans were pleased with Scowen’s display and voiced their praise on social media:

Sunderland are currently sixth in the League One table, five points off second place.
