Some Tottenham Hotspur staff were stunned by what Fabio Paratici did ahead of their opening game of the season, away at Brentford back in August.

Fabio Paratici officially left Tottenham in April 2023, resigning after being banned from the game. However, the Italian – who had spent the two previous years as the club’s managing director of football – is allowed to continue to advise Spurs.

And, as reported by The Athletic, he remains an important figure at Tottenham Hotspur, boasting a good relationship with Daniel Levy, who completely trusts the 51-year-old.

But it seems that some were not expecting to see just how involved Paratici remained heading into this new campaign.

In fact, The Athletic reports that some of the staff were surprised to see Paratici attending Tottenham’s opening game of the new season. The report notes that he did not watch the game from the directors’ box. Instead, he interacted with some of the fans as Spurs went on to draw 2-2 in their first competitive game under Ange Postecoglou.

Italian’s work at Spurs now being looked at in a different light

It has certainly been a turbulent time for Paratici since his association with Tottenham began. Ultimately, he will be judged, understandably, on how his signings perform on the pitch for Spurs by supporters.

And given how disappointing last season was, many would be forgiven for wanting to partially point the finger at Paratici for the club’s problems under Antonio Conte.

Now however, a review of Paratici’s signings would look very different. Tottenham have proved to be one of the most entertaining sides this season. And when you consider their injury problems, you have to say that they are doing remarkably to be one point off the top four.

Postecoglou has to take a lot of credit. But many of those who signed during Paratici’s tenure are now performing.

So, many Spurs fans will be very happy to see their association with the Italian continue for some time yet.
