A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have praised the club’s video of Joe Hart in training with Spurs for the first time, noting how happy he looks and even how he appears like a “different man”.
Hart was deemed one of the world’s top goalkeepers several years ago, a regular for Manchester City and England who accrued close to 350 competitive appearances for the Etihad side and 75 Three Lions caps.
However, Man City boss Pep Guardiola went on to deem the 33-year-old surplus to requirements, with loan spells at Torino and West Ham not going to plan, while at Burnley, he fell out of first-team contention and made just three appearances last season.
On Tuesday, Spurs snapped Hart up on a free transfer, the 6ft 5in stopper penning a two-year contract in North London, and on Wednesday, he took part in his first training session with his new teammates.
Given the tough last couple of years that Hart has had, some Spurs fans loved seeing him in such good spirits once again, taking to social media to have their say:
Hart has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and one FA Cup during his career, and in 2015, he received high praise from none other than Lionel Messi.
Man City faced Barcelona in the Champions League last 16 and, though the Blaugrana through 3-1 on aggregate, Hart’s heroics at Camp Nou kept his side in the tie and limited the opposition to a narrow 1-0 win.
Messi was quoted by Sky Sports as saying: “He was phenomenal, he stopped everything. We have to congratulate him on a great game because he’s a fantastic goalkeeper.”
Andres Iniesta, meanwhile, added: “Hart was key to keeping them in it and was great in one-on-one situations. He was outstanding.”
