Some Spurs fans buzzing as Fabrizio Romano hints new signing could be close

Spurs fans have welcomed Fabrizio Romano’s claim that Tottenham have submitted an official bid for Pape Matar Sarr.

The Italian journalist claimed early on Saturday morning that negotiations had been progressing between Spurs and Metz.

“Total agreement still to be completed in the next days – also potential loan to be decided,” he wrote on Twitter. “Talks on.”

Given how talented Sarr is, plenty of Tottenham fans seem excited about the increasing speculation linking him to N17.

Here is what some Spurs supporters said on Twitter in response to Romano’s update:

Sarr has been with Metz for less than a year, having joined the French side from Senegal-based Generation Foot.

The 18-year-old began in Metz’s reserve team but finished the season with 25 first-team appearances and four goals.

Better still for Tottenham fans, Romano isn’t the only one to suggest Spurs are closing in on Sarr.

According to Sky Sports, Sarr is expected to sign a six-year contract at Tottenham.

The report claims Metz president Bernard Serin flew into Stansted on Monday to have an initial meeting with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

A deal was apparently agreed in principle there and then, and Sarr reportedly favours Spurs out of five clubs that have made offers.

The box-to-box midfielder will stay on loan at Metz this season to continue his development, added the report.
