Some Liverpool fans have challenged Matthew Upson over his combined Manchester City-Liverpool XI for Sky Sports.
The former defender was the man tasked with choosing the best possible XI of players from either team and, predictably, some controversial choices were made.

Upson plumped for an all-Liverpool defence of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Andy Robertson.
His midfield consisted of Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva, and upfront he went for Sadio Mane, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.
It’s undoubtedly an amazing team, but Upson hasn’t satisfied everyone.
A number of Liverpool fans were most upset about his snub for Fabinho, who has been in imperious form for Liverpool over the past year or so.

The Brazilian has become a world-class holding midfielder, adept at providing protection for the team’s defence, and expertly recycling possession.
Liverpool fans argue
Lots of Liverpool fans were keen to point out Upson’s ‘mistake’, suggesting their man should be in the theoretical XI ahead of his fellow Brazilian Fernandinho, who has hardly featured in his natural position this season:
