Some Newcastle United fans react to reported interest in Southampton target Evann Guessand

Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by the Daily Mail, claiming their side is interested in signing Southampton target Evann Guessand.

The Toon and Saints are among a clutch of clubs monitoring the OGC Nice-owned forward while he enjoys a promising season on loan with Swiss Super League outfit Lausanne-Sport.

Guessand has struck home seven goals and offered four assists in 31 league appearances since moving to the Stade de la Tuiliere, with his latest goal coming in spectacular fashion by equalising against FC Zurich with a scorpion-style flick.

The 19-year-old is considered to be a strong but fast 6ft centre-forward with a high technical ability, and has represented France through Under 16 to U18s levels though has only played 29 minutes over four appearances for the Nice first-team to date.

Reports by The Northern Echo add that Newcastle have built an array of scouting reports on Guessand this season and believe he has shown improvements throughout the campaign, to the point where the club’s hierarchy are now ready to submit an offer.
