Some Newcastle United fans react to reported interest in Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo

Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media reports by The Athletic, which claimed the Toon are interested in a summer transfer swoop for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

The Magpies and Arsenal are believed to be monitoring the centre-half’s situation at Craven Cottage following Scott Parker’s side’s relegation from the Premier League, with the 23-year-old open to a move away.

Adarabioyo has been a mainstay of Parker’s plans in south west London following a last-ditch move from Manchester City on Deadline Day in October, which is noted to have set Fulham back an initial £1.5million that could rise to £2m through add-ons.

Man City would also be due 20 per cent of any future fee through a sell-on clause inserted in the 6 ft 5 enforcer’s transfer, while potential suitors can prise Adarabioyo away from Craven Cottage through a release clause with an undisclosed fee in his contract.

Further clubs in England and Germany are also thought to be keeping tabs on Adarabioyo’s situation with a view to a summer transfer, having seen the Sky Blues product establish himself in the top-flight by starting all 31 of his appearances from 32 available games.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is claimed to know Adarabioyo well from his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant coach at the Etihad Stadium, while Parker has lauded the defender and expects to see him challenge for an England call-up (Express and Star).
