Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by The Telegraph, which claimed Steve Bruce has lined up a serious of meetings with Mike Ashley at the end of the season where the pair will discuss his future at St. James’ Park.

Bruce was appointed to replace Rafa Benitez at the helm ahead of the 2019/20 season, after the Toon agreed to pay £4million in compensation to Sheffield Wednesday (The Sun) for the termination of his contract.

Newcastle have avoided relegation with games to spare in each of Bruce’s two campaigns in charge, but he has often been met with criticism from some supporters for results, the style of football used and occasionally his messages through the media.

The 60-year-old vowed not to walk away from Tyneside earlier this season amid a relegation fight and insisted his commitment to being in charge of Newcastle next term (Sky Sports), but has now lined up a series of meetings with Ashley in which they will discuss his future.

Talks between Bruce and Ashley are expected to carry over a number of weeks, and would also be expected to include any potential summer budget with it likely that United will only be able to spend what they make through player sales.
