Last night saw Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League hopes take another hit as they failed to beat PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. A 2-2 draw leaves them five points behind Inter Milan and eight behind group leaders Barcelona.
The Dutch side snatched a draw courtesy of Dutch international Luuk de Jong. Watching the striker have such an impactful game against Tottenham certainly had fans of Newcastle United scratching their heads.
In January of 2014, Newcastle United signed the Dutch striker to help add to their goals tally for the second half of the season.

De Jong was the man in question. He signed from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach. His form with the German side had been poor, not scoring a goal since the preceding April.
His time at Newcastle was just as barren. In 12 games he failed to score a single goal for the club and, in honesty, never even looked likely.
He was bereft of confidence and simply did not look up to scratch at St James’ Park. So, obviously, he has gone on to become a regular scorer since leaving.
After his failed Newcastle stint he headed to PSV, where he has scored 89 goals in 174 appearances, including nine in 14 games this season.
