Newcastle United have experienced an indifferent start to 2020/21.
The Magpies are currently sitting in 13th place having taken 11 points from eight games, and have a goal difference of -3.
Steve Bruce’s side have shown signs of quality but ultimately, have lacked consistency.

The club have had injuries to contend with, with Jonjo Shelvey having missed the past few matches after picking up a groin injury, which required a small surgery.
In his absence, Newcastle have picked up four points and scored three goals.
Shelvey has been a curious case at St. James’ Park.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City maestro has tremendous playmaking ability and very good vision, but can sometimes frustrate supporters for not being influential or consistent enough.
Knowing what Shelvey can potentially bring to the team is perhaps a reason why some supporters sometimes get frustrated with the 28-year-old.

It cannot be denied that Shelvey – who signed for the club for £12 million in 2016 (BBC Sport) – is a very important player in Newcastle’s squad though, and when he is playing there is at least always that potential for him to deliver a killer pass from deep.
There has been some discussion on social media about whether Steve Bruce should bring him back into the side when he’s fully fit again, and it seems there is mixed opinion:
