Newcastle United fans were treated to a reminder of former striker Papiss Cisse’s incredible goal against Chelsea in 2012 on Thursday morning.
It is seven years to the day that the Senegal hitman, signed by the club for around £10 million from Freiburg (BBC Sport), appeared to defy the laws of physics by scoring a ridiculous goal at Stamford Bridge.

Cisse picked the ball up around 37 yards out from the left flank and unleashed a dipping, swerving half-volley that gave arguably the league’s best goalkeeper at the time Petr Cech no chance.
It was a strike that caught everyone in the stadium off guard, and was ultimately voted as the BBC’s Goal of the Season.
The goal was so good that it rendered Cisse’s other goal in the game, another superb half-volley from inside the area, almost completely forgettable.

Cisse was a hit with the fans from that moment on, and went on to enjoy a good few seasons at St. James’ Park.
He eventually left the club in 2016 to join Shandong Luneng in China, but he is certainly fondly remembered by Magpies supporters for his contributions.
