Some Newcastle fans react as Valentino Lazaro prepares to join Monchengladbach

Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to express their opinions about Valentino Lazaro, who is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Borussia Monchengladbach (Rheinische Post).

Lazaro spent the second half of 2019/20 on loan at St. James’ Park from Inter Milan.

The Austria international’s arrival was greeted very positively, but the move was ultimately underwhelming.

He made 15 appearances for the Magpies and scored two goals, but Lazaro failed to establish himself as a regular starter under Steve Bruce.

Four of his 13 Premier League appearances were mere cameos, and the fact he was not used more given his versatility is somewhat surprising.

It now seems Lazaro is highly likely to return to the Bundesliga in the form of Monchengladbach, who finished fourth in the table to seal Champions League qualification.

The move is set to be another loan, with Inter inserting a €20 million option-to-buy (FedeNerazzurra).

On social media, there were several Newcastle fans disappointed to see the player moving on to pastures new.
