Some Newcastle fans react as Celtic reportedly after Freddie Woodman

Celtic are reportedly interested in raiding Newcastle United for goalkeeper Freddie Woodman this summer after Neil Lennon admitted that talks to re-sign Fraser Forster had stalled – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Woodman, 23, has only ever been afforded four senior appearances for Newcastle – instead being loaned out numerous times. This season, he has enjoyed the best of his six loan moves away from Tyneside.

The goalkeeper has been with Swansea City – where he has clocked up 41 appearances for the Welsh club, conceding just 48 goals and keeping an impressive 12 clean sheets for the English Championship outfit.

The Chronicle claimed that Woodman is on Celtic’s radar once again, having been linked with a move to Parkhead in the past. Woodman has impressed in Scottish football before, following loans with Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.

He is likely to be available on the cheap having entered the final 12 months of his contract at Newcastle. The Toon are well stocked between the sticks after signing Mark Gillespie from Motherwell on a free.

Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to reports that Celtic are interested in raiding their club for Woodman, and while many want him to stay – others realise he needs to leave as Martin Dubravka remains first choice.

One fan joked that Newcastle should swap Woodman for striker Odsonne Edouard.
