Some Manchester City fans want 18-year-old fast-tracked, tore Manchester United U23s apart

Manchester City academy star Cole Palmer continues to dazzle for the Under-23s, putting in a superb display to put rivals Manchester United to the sword on Friday night.

Enzo Maresca’s charges ran out 3-0 winners over the Red Devils at the Academy Stadium, with Palmer netting a brace and Sam Edozie also getting on the scoresheet.

The win now means City can be crowned Premier League 2 champions on Monday evening, if both Tottenham and Blackburn fail to win their upcoming games.

City dominated from the off and were rewarded with a 15th-minute opener, Romeo Lavia making a great interception and squaring the ball for Edozie to tap into the empty net from close range.

Leading 1-0 at the break despite having numerous chances, the hosts finally doubled their lead, courtesy of a stunning 25-yard striker from Palmer which sailed into the top corner.

The Wythenshawe ace then made it three when Tommy Doyle pulled the ball back for his teammate to curl an effort into the bottom corner to cap off a stunning derby victory.

Palmer is now on 11 goals from just 13 Premier League 2 games, and plenty of City fans are eager to see him given an opportunity in the first team.

Here’s what some fans were saying about the 18-year-old prodigy on social media:
