Some Manchester City fans react to Ederson's reported new deal
Some Manchester City fans have reacted after news of goalkeeper Ederson’s imminent new contract.
What’s the story?
According to The Athletic, the Brazilian is in talks with the club over a new three-year deal. And the Citizens expect the ace will put pen to paper.
Ederson has endured a strange time at the Etihad Stadium, contract-wise.
He signed a new seven-year contract just a year after he joined the club for £35m from Benfica. Should he sign the current offer, it will be his second during a four-year stay in Manchester.
He has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola, winning three Premier League trophies.
Ederson’s new deal is deserved
Ederson’s alleged new contract is completely deserved after the shot-stopper emerged as the most important player for Manchester City.
Of all the players across the pitch, the number one has been the only constant since Guardiola’s City success started.
At centre-half, the coach has switched from Vincent Kompany to Aymeric Laporte to Ruben Dias.
There has also been mass change in the full-back positions, with City spending outrageous sums each window.
Meanwhile, Guardiola has also heavily invested in the centre of midfield and in attack.
Ederson, in goal, has been a constant throughout and it is thanks to his remarkable consistency. In that regard, he completely deserves a new deal.
