Some Manchester City fans react as Celtic eye move for Itakura
Some Manchester City fans were reacting as Celtic eyed up a move for Ko Itakura.
The Japan international has been with the Citizens since joining from Kawasaki Frontale back in 2019. He’s yet to make a first-team appearance for the club and has spent the last 18 months on loan with FC Groningen.
Itakura seems to have made a lasting impression on the Eredivisie outfit, helping the club finish seventh last season. The 24-year-old made 34 appearances in the Dutch top-flight.
Manager Danny Buijs has lauded the far-east ace, claiming he’d love to keep the ace in the Netherlands.
It’s being claimed that Ange Postecoglou has placed the midfielder at the top of his list of targets.
TBR View: Itakura has no Manchester City future amidst Celtic move
It goes without saying, but, Itakura has no future at Manchester City amid talk of a transfer to Celtic.
The Japanese star will find it next to impossible to break through into the Citizens side.
City are packed to rafters with talent in the centre of the park. Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan and more provide Pep Guardiola with plenty of options. And following Fernandinho’s latest contract extension, his chances are fading virtually zero.
