Manchester City are reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Zack Steffen.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League champions are eager to tie the American international down to a long-term deal. As per the report, Steffen will sign a four-year contract with City.

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the former Columbus Crew star. And Steffen has proven to be a solid backup option to Ederson Moraes when called upon.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper featured heavily last season for City in the League Cup and FA Cup as the Manchester giants claimed the former against Tottenham Hotspur.

Whilst Steffen is a keeper who has proven to be good enough to be a first-choice option at another club, keeping the American goalkeeper at City is a decision that supporters on social media agree with.

Indeed, this new contract proves that Guardiola and City are huge fans of Steffen. And at 26, the former MLS keeper has plenty of years left to develop into a top keeper.
