Some Manchester City fans have been reacting on social media to reports by the Daily Mail, which claimed their club will back Pep Guardiola with his plans to sign a replacement for Sergio Aguero in the summer transfer window.

Aguero is set to leave the Etihad Stadium after a decade in England, after the Sky Blues confirmed (mancity.com) that they were not offering their record goalscorer a new contract ahead of his current deal expiring.

The Argentine’s departure will leave Gabriel Jesus as Guardiola’s only recognised senior striker, although the three-time Premier League winning manager has deployed a raft of options as a false nine this season.

Guardiola is also expected to promote Liam Delap to the first-team on a full-time basis after training with the senior squad this term (MEN), following a prolific junior campaign that has returned 27 goals in 22 Under 23s games.

But a replacement for Aguero will be Man City’s priority for the summer transfer window, with Guardiola set to be backed in the market to improve a squad that has won this season’s Premier League, Carabao Cup and will contest the Champions League final.

Man City have been linked with a myriad of strikers, including Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (ESPN), Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan (Calciomercato), Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland (Mundo Deportivo) and Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur (The Sun) among others.

Here are some of the reactions that Sky Blues supporters have shared on social media to a striker being earmarked as their priority target…
