Some Manchester City fans have been reacting on social media after Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer congratulated Pep Guardiola’s newly crowned Premier League champions.
The Citizens clinched their third top-flight title in the past four seasons on Tuesday night after the Red Devils failed to beat Leicester City, to leave Guardiola’s side 10 points clear of Solskjaer’s at the top of the table with three games to play.
Man City have now won the Premier League five times, plus two old First Division honours, and could clinch a treble should they overcome Chelsea in the Champions League final later this month following their success in the Carabao Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Guardiola and his Sky Blues players will lift the top-flight trophy after their final game of the league season at home to Everton on May 23 (BBC), following trips to Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Manchester United have not finished a Premier League season within 10 points of the champions since their last title-winning campaign in 2012/13, with their closest finish being the 2015/16 term when Leicester City won the division while they finished fifth.
The Red Devils ended the 2017/18 campaign as runners-up to Man City with 81 points, in a season that saw the Citizens become the first Premier League side to clinch 100 points.
Solskjaer offered Man City praise for their latest honour while speaking with BT Sport following his side’s 2-1 defeat at home to Leicester on Tuesday night, noting:
“Congratulations to them, they’ve had a fantastic season. Very pleased with my boys as they’ve made it into the last 10 days of the season with a Man City team that are ahead of us, that are lauded as the best in Europe. So, we’ve done well, but we want to take the next step.”
