Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne is set to miss the rest of 2019 after sustaining a knee ligament injury during the pre-season match against Borussia Dortmund (BBC Sport).
The star has flown home from the US in order to begin treatment.

Manager Jurgen Klopp said of the development: “Clearly an injury of this nature isn’t a happy moment for any player, but the silver lining for him is that, according to the medical guys, it’s a straightforward ACL injury.
“This means fixing it and coming back from it should follow a path that is free from pitfalls and complications.”
Clyne has suffered a clean tear, meaning a return to action before Christmas is highly unlikely.
It is a bitter blow for Clyne, who is now into the final year of his contract at Anfield.

His injury leaves Trent Alexander-Arnold as the only natural right-back at Klopp’s disposal – but some Reds supporters have a solution to the problem.
Liverpool fans react
A number of Reds supporters are keen to see talented young Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever brought into the first-team for 2019/20 with Clyne set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 17-year-old wowed on his first-team debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup last term, and is one of the club’s best young prospects. He’s been doing well in pre-season and also impressed for the Netherlands European U17s Championships in May.
