Liverpool fans have been praising Reds academy star Oakley Cannonier for yet another goalscoring masterclass at age level.

A few years ago, the 17-year-old was best known as the ball boy who ‘assisted’ Trent Alexander-Arnold for his legendary quick corner against Barcelona in the Champions League.

But now, Cannonier is making a name for himself as a goal machine for the Liverpool Under-18s, and has all the makings of a top player.

The youngster has a staggering 13 goals in just 10 Under-18 Premier League appearances this season.

On Saturday, Cannonier scored a brace against Middlesbrough, though sadly he couldn’t prevent Liverpool from suffering a 4-3 defeat.

He had the chance to seal his hat-trick and seal a draw with a penalty deep in injury time, but the Boro keeper saved it.

Nonetheless, Cannonier can be happy with his efforts in the game, not to mention his amazing goal tally and impressive progress this term.

Liverpool fans have been praising his efforts on Twitter, with one even suggesting he could be a good shout as Roberto Firmino’s replacement:
