Some Liverpool fans react to Henderson contract update
Some Liverpool fans were reacting after The Athletic revealed an update on the club’s contract talks with Jordan Henderson.
The publication revealed that, despite weeks of talks, an agreement hasn’t been reached. It also claimed that there is ‘significant uncertainty’ over the midfielder’s future.
But talks over a new deal have not broken down and both parties remain in discussion.
Henderson’s current contract expires in the summer of 2023. His situation is similar to that of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk. Sporting director Michael Edwards has been tasked with ‘retaining the club’s elite talent and protecting their value’ this summer.
Liverpool need to tie down Henderson amid contract update
It sounds daft to have to say this.
Liverpool need to tie down Henderson to a new contract after the latest update over his future.
His importance to the Reds should not be understated. From his hard work and quality to his leadership, the England international embodies everything Jurgen Klopp’s men are about.
To let him leave is almost unthinkable given how much quality he provides at the heart of the current side.
Here is how some Liverpool fans reacted to the latest report…

Not quite like the gini calamity coz he will be 33 and is already very injury prone— lfc6times#fsgout (@GarySutheran) July 19, 2021
FSG penny pinching again? Can’t even offer the club captain a new deal 😂 God knows even if they’ll offer Salah one. They’ll probably claim they’ll go bankrupt if they gave Salah a new contract as an excuse to not give him one 😂— 🤘🏽 (@Nepalsfinest) July 19, 2021
how does Adrian get a new contract but they can’t give Jordan Henderson one? it’s laughable.— Scouser Chris (@ScouserChrisLFC) July 19, 2021
It's becoming a common occurrence with these owners, alarm bells rang the way they treated Gerrard on his way out 👀— Terry (@Terry_LFC6) July 19, 2021
Why is everything so negative coming out the clubs from transfer to contracts to finances all so negative— JT (@UpTheRedmen1) July 19, 2021
