Some Liverpool fans jealous after hearing who Gerrard wants for Villa now

A number of Liverpool fans have reacted to speculation linking Aston Villa with Yves Bissouma.

The Reds have been linked with the Mali international in the past.

In October, Duncan Castles of the Transfer Window Podcast said Liverpool had been tracking Bissouma for over a year.

The Anfield outfit has some talented midfielders coming through the ranks, such as Tyler Morton.

Nonetheless, Liverpool never did replace Georginio Wijnaldum, so there’s scope to bring in another top midfielder.

Meanwhile, Villa already made waves by signing Anfield cult hero Philippe Coutinho on loan this week.

Now, Sky Sports have reported that Gerrard wants to sign Bissouma too.

Bissouma, now in the last 18 months of his Brighton contract, is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.

The 25-year-old joined the south coast outfit in the summer of 2018 from Lille for a reported £15.2million.

Bissouma has made 111 competitive appearances to date for the Seagulls.

As well as being linked with Liverpool, the Mali international was also reportedly on Arsenal’s radar.

The Athletic reported in April last year that Brighton wouldn’t entertain bids of less than £40million for Bissouma.
