Some excited Liverpool fans flock to Virgil van Dijk’s latest post on Twitter

A number of Liverpool fans have flocked to Virgil van Dijk’s latest tweet, a video clip of him jogging on the Kirkby pitch.

The Reds defender has been battling back from a long-term anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in the Merseyside derby last October.

Van Dijk has been a big miss for a Liverpool side which has struggled to hit the heights of the last couple of years and sits four points outside the Premier League’s top four.

While it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will be back in action this season, his recovery certainly seems to be going well.

On Thursday afternoon, Van Dijk shared footage of himself jogging effortlessly across the turf at Liverpool’s new training complex, a post shared by Liverpool on their own feed.

And while plenty of Reds fans were delighted to see him looking sharper each passing day, some wondered – tongue-in-cheek – whether the club would follow up this good news with bad news.
