Leeds United did not disappoint in their first game back in the Premier League. The Whites played out an absolute thriller with reigning Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah’s hat-trick and a header from Virgil van Dijk ended up costing Marcelo Bielsa’s side, with suspect defending to blame on three occasions.
But goals from Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford, and Mateusz Klich clawed Leeds back into the game on three separate occasions until Rodrigo’s dangling leg felled Fabinho and Salah completed his penalty for a hat-trick and stunning win.
Leeds United fans will no doubt be taking plenty of positives from the game, especially with their attacking play, and will be hoping that Premier League survival is the least of their aims for the campaign.
However, for Klopp, it was clear he knew his Reds had just been in a game.
After the match, the German simply looked down the camera lens after shaking hands with the Leeds bench and mouthed one word, ‘wow’.
Leeds played the sort of football that Klopp adores, similar in style to his former Borussia Dortmund team and it was clear he was appreciative of the West Yorkshire side’s performance.
For plenty of Leeds fans, that is reason enough to believe they will be just fine this season…

Well done Liverpool an absolute cracker of a game
The other 18 teams wont take us lightly now
Delighted how we debuted against the Champions after 16 years.
