Andrea Radrizzani has been quoted by Football Italia as saying that he could consider bringing free agent Edinson Cavani to Leeds United following the club’s promotion to the Premier League – and Leeds fans have reacted.
Leeds secured their return to the Premier League last week as champions of England’s second division, as West Brom and Brentford both suffered defeats to Huddersfield Town and Stoke City respectively.
It ended a 16-year wait for the Whites, who last played in England’s top tier in 2004 – only to be relegated due to a financial collapse under the stewardship of Peter Ridsdale. Now, Leeds are looking ahead once again.
Owner Radrizzani ruled out a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic during an interview with Sky Sport Italia, but suggested he could pursue a deal to sign Cavani – who is without a club after his release by Paris Saint-Germain.

“Cavani could contribute with his physicality and adapt here, but I’ve never talked about him with the coach, Radrizzani said. “We’ve certainly thought about him and we’ll see, given he’s still available on a free transfer.”
The 33-year-old was considered as one of the world’s best centre-forwards at the peak of his powers, but he has since dropped out of form and Mauro Icardi’s move to PSG saw him benched last season.
Now a free agent, the 116-time international is looking for a new home and a move to Elland Road could be on the cards if Radrizzani can tempt him. Many Leeds fans reacted to the news on Twitter.
