Some Leeds fans hail 18-year-old's Friday U23s display, he'll 'soon' get Joffy-level attention
A number of Leeds United fans have waxed lyrical about Lewis Bate’s latest display for the Whites Under-23s.
Mark Jackson’s Whites played out an exhilarating 4-4 Premier League 2 draw against Blackburn in York.
Once again, Joe Gelhardt was the standout for Leeds, scoring a wonderful brace, while Max Dean and Charlie Allen also netted for the Whites.
However, Rovers ace Sam Burns netted a double of his own, with Jared Harlock also on the scoresheet and Luke Brennan netting in the seventh minute of injury time.
Leeds could’ve gone joint top of the Premier League 2 first division table with a victory.
Nonetheless, the Whites can be incredibly happy with how they’ve fared so far, earning promotion to the top tier last season and shining this term too.
There are some wonderful talents coming through the ranks at Thorp Arch, such as Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood.
And Bate, a tenacious midfielder who joined Leeds from Chelsea’s academy this summer, is a great shout to be in amongst those names too.
Leeds Live gave the 18-year-old 7 out of 10 and wrote: “Set the tempo with neat and precise sideways passing, constantly recycling the ball and biting into challenges.
“Great work-rate from Bate in defensive midfield. Never stood still.”
Bate has played every minute of Leeds’ Premier League 2 campaign so far and looks like he could be a star in the making.
