Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Son Heung-min has signed a new contract with the club, despite speculation surrounding his future. Son had entered the final two years of his contract at Spurs, which was due to expire in 2023. But he has signed a new deal, and Spurs fans are delighted.

Son, who turns 30 in August, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal which will keep him at the club until he is almost 34 years of age. It will see the South Korea skipper remain at Spurs for a decade, having already clocked up a mammoth 280 appearances in all competitions for the London side.

Spurs announced the deal on Friday morning, one which has been spoken about in newspapers on numerous occasions. It sees Son stay on the same morning that reports have emerged about Harry Kane set to leave and join Manchester City – for an enormous £160million.

What have Tottenham fans said about the new deal for Son?

It is a huge plus for Spurs. With Kane set to go and Tottenham failing to even qualify for the Europa League, there was huge doubts that Son would want to stay at Spurs. Clearly, he is a player that boasts Champions League quality. But Spurs have pulled off a coup, by orchestrating a deal for Son.

It goes without saying, then, that Tottenham fans are buzzing with the new deal for Son and the work done by sporting director Fabio Paratici. The Italian chief is closing in on Pierluigi Gollini, Bryan Gil, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cristian Romero, too. A good few days for Spurs fans.
