Southampton are top of the Premier League after a comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle United at St Mary’s.
Goals from Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong secured the win for the Saints, which remarkably took Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team top of the league.
But for Everton fans, it was the performance of a player on loan at the club which caught the eye.
Theo Walcott had a stellar game for his boyhood club, with whom he is on loan until the end of the season, when his contract at Everton comes to an end.
The former England international provided the assist for Adams’ opening goal of the game whilst it was his surging run that eventually led to Armstrong dispossessing an opponent and driving home the goal that sealed the result.
Some Everton fans are wondering if this is the same Walcott who struggled to find form during his tenure at Goodison Park.
The Sam Allardyce signing struggled to win over fans on the pitch, with a series of uninspiring displays and ineffective attacking qualities.
However, back on his old stomping ground, Walcott now has two assists in three games and is looking like a potentially integral part of a surprisingly successful season for the Saints.
Here is how some Everton fans reacted on Twitter to Walcott’s latest display.

Theo Walcott some more in this game that I have been watching for five minutes than I saw him do for Everton all last season

Walcott and Kean smashing it away from Everton. Why on earth can’t players perform at Everton?!

Why did we let go of Walcott and keep Iwobi and Bernard?!?
Typical Everton that!

Walcott has done more in 12 minutes than he’s done in his whole Everton career

Don’t think I seen Walcott once disposes a player or look up before making a decent pass into the box! He’s looked decent for Southampton so far this season, typical Everton that

Walcott has just done more running and given more end product in 7 minutes for Southampton here, than he has done in his whole time at Everton.
